January 1/2023- It's been 52 days with the boys in their new foster home! They're doing very well and settling into their new routine, and with the help of some mild anxiety meds they're making big strides in socialization. Though they're still worried their foster might be coming to get them when she moves around, they are happy to come out and eat and play while she is seated. Unfortunately, they still mainly want to visit late at night, (after 11pm) but they will be working on daytime visits in the new year. Though not overly food motivated both these boys love to play and really enjoy catnip. Watching them beginning to let out their goofy sides is wonderful, as they're just as big of doofuses as expected (maybe even a little more). It's adorable to see two big boys playing around like kittens. Dumpling has even found his voice and will meow at Drumstick when playing which is pretty darn sweet to hear knowing that feral cats typically don't vocalize like that. Dumpling is working on associating eating with being pet, and Drumstick is not too far behind working on eating comfortably from a spoon right next to his foster - and starting to eat dry kibble on the couch hopefully soon. Dumpling is still behind where he was at his former foster home, where he accepted pets from his foster dad, but he's getting there. Drumstick is doing better being out more and more confidently than he was previously.While they're not currently listed for adoption as their progress is slow and requires a lot of patience and attention to continue progressing, if the right person/couple was prepared to continue working with them wanted to adopt them we'd be open to a conversation about what that would look like. At this time, it'd be recommended they not go to a home with children (they move to chaotically the boys would simply hide) or large dogs (they were afraid of the dogs in their first foster home).
