Pekoe was found stray in the Hamilton area and Animal Services transferred her to us so that we could find her a forever home. She is believed to be a Shar-Pei /Terrier mixed breed dog and is estimated to be about 3 years old. She is athletic and energetic and loves to run, jump and play. She can be nervous and unsure at first but with time is affectionate with people she trusts. She has some basic commands and walks well on leash but can be distracted when she sees other dogs and squirrels.She would be a great fit for an active family with experience with rescue dogs and positive reinforcement training. We are not recommending her for a home with children because of her unknown history. Nor a home with other pets because she can be reactive with dogs and has a prey drive with small animals.Her specific adoption criteria include a:- detached home in a quiet neighbourhood or country because she can be vocal- private yard with a high fence because she loves to run and jump- family with no children or other pets in the home or visiting regularly- family experienced with positive reinforcement behavioural training with nervous, high energy dogsShe is microchipped, up to date on her basic vaccinations and will be spayed prior to finalizing her adoption.If you're interested in adopting her please fill in our online adoption application.
