Adopt Frank a Tricolor (Tan/Brown & Black & White) Boxer / Mixed dog in Regina
Do you like big dogs that are extremely gentle, friendly with everyone and everything, low key and quiet, but still playful to chase a ball or a stick? Do you want a dog to spoil silly with walks, runs, tug-o-wars and other adventures? Do you like lap dogs regardless of size? Well Frank may be the dog just for you.Frank was found stray, living out of a cardboard box. His gentle, laid back demeanour has charmed everyone he’s met. He is a medium size dog (23“ at the shoulder) but very muscular and very strong at 75 pounds. He looks like a Staffy-Boxer mixture. He is a passive, easy going two-year-old that lumbers up to meet people, liking people of all ages and sizes, and has been great around children. Frank is fostered in a dog-free/cat free home, so interaction with them is based on experiences from encounters. What brings Frank the most joy is meeting other dogs. He would love to play with them all, but does need some help fine tuning his dog greeting skills as he wants to exert some dominance. His 1st stop on his way to his current foster had him at a home with another dog that he wanted to play with, but was content to curl up with, simply enjoying the companionship. He has had 2 cat encounters on his walks. He walked up to both respectfully. The 1st one held its ground and told him to back off, which he did. The other 1 told him to back off and then immediately ran, which made him think maybe that chase was the game. He respected the leash and came back (a little disappointed) when told. He is patient and quiet in a kennel, but because he lived in a box, he has not been placed in 1 for more than an hour or 2 out of respect and building trust. He is not a chewer, does not race around the house unless someone else starts the game, rarely barks, and LOVES playing with his stuffy toys. He enjoys picking up a stick occasionally on his walks. Without other dogs at his foster home, he has been taken for frequent walks for exercise and stimulation, something he looks forward to. Yes, he can pull, but is responding extremely well to the training that has begun. He likes to end the day with cuddles (well, he is up for loving at any time) and happy to lie across your lap. But once his internal clock strikes bedtime, he is up and off to his own comfy bed without being told. He sleeps well, is house broken and is so delightful to have around. Frank the Tank is a big, happy lug and incredibly loveable with an excellent disposition. With firm leadership, he would be an amazing addition to any family. If your family can give him the time, attention and love he truly deserves, please apply for him. Please note that in most cases, breed(s) listed is our best guess.
