Adopt Clint a Tan/Yellow/Fawn German Shorthaired Pointer / Mixed dog in Surrey
This attractive looking pup is Clint. Like Pearl, Clint comes from the Yukon and is a German Short haired Pointer mixture. The 2 aren’t related but they both have experienced harsh treatment at the hands of cruel people. Clint is 3 years old and so far his life has not been easy. He was chained up outside for nearly all of his short life. He wasn’t fed regularly, given any protection from the weather (he is missing a small piece of 1 ear probably due to frost) and he was deprived of human companionship. Finally at the urging of others, the owner agreed to surrender him. The same rescuer who helped Pearl was there again to help Clint. In her precious care he has gained some weight and has had his faith in humans restored! His rescuer says that sometimes it seems as if he doubts his new life is real! Clint is a great natured, friendly boy with a gentle nature. He likes being with people (children too) and what he wants more than anything is to be a valuable member of a family. He needs lots of time and interaction with his people which he will repay with total devotion. Not a breed to be cooped up for many hours at a time, GSP’s need to be exercised well both mentally and physically. They are energetic, spirited and thrive on activity. Clint will be happiest when he is taking long walks and hikes with his humans. He would also enjoy agility, tracking, search and rescue. He is a perfect addition to an energetic family who enjoy being active like he does. Clint takes a little while to warm up to other dogs but once he is comfortable he becomes playful and full of fun. He is never aggressive or rough in his play. He is exuberant but always behaves well in the company of other canines. We aren’t sure about cats! Because he was chained up outside with no human inter-action he has not been taught his basics yet. But, he is smart and eager to please. He is responding quickly to gentle and patient training and is already house-trained. He will just be happy getting attention from his people! Clint likes being in the house now but because he hasn’t had much opportunity to be inside, we don’t know how he will be if he is left alone. It would be best for him to be crate trained where he could stay safely for short periods of time. Having a well balanced dog to share his home with would be cute for him. He doesn’t seem to have any bad habits - no barking or chewing or aggression. He likes to dig a little just for fun and to burn off some energy! Sometimes GSP’s like to jump fences if they are bored and under-stimulated, but Clint is getting his exercise now and hasn’t shown any tendencies to jump. Clint is neutered and vaccinated and has no medical issues. He is healthy, eager and ready to go to his new forever home. If you are looking for an athletic, smart and loving part of the family Clint might be the one!
