Adopt Chao - Adoption Pending a Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut Boxer / Mixed dog in
Chao / M / Approximately 2yrs / 49 lbs / Boxer / Mississauga Meet Chao name! Chao's foster says Chao is a “…lovely dog with an equally stunning personality. He's a great communicator and rarely barks. You know he's especially happy when he rolls right on his back, paws up in the air, without a care in the world!” Chao is best described as a smart, curious, playful and affectionate dog. He loves to go for walks or runs, chewing on his bones, playing with his toys and foster brother, or cuddle up right on you – he thinks he’s a lap dog who loves to be close to his humans! Chao’s ideal family would be 1 that could provide him with the necessary exercise and playtime a bigger boy like him needs, and preferably a backyard so he can run freely which he loves to do. Another dog at home to keep him company would be a bonus, and his foster parents describe him as being a very adaptable, go-with-the-flow kind of dog. Since he is on the stronger side, despite not pulling on the leash during walks it is important that his forever family would be equipped to handle walking him should he see something he gets excited over. Chao has not been cat tested. Chao does very well with new people; both kids and adults, and whether they meet outside on a walk or inside he will always want your attention AND affection! So much so, that if he feels you did not greet him appropriately, he will follow you around until you show him some affection. Although not tested with very young children, Chao would likely do well with respectful kids that understand dog etiquette. Right now, Chao is walked for 30+ minimum in the morning, after work and in the evening. He will come if you call his name, and is currently working on sitting still for a treat. His new family should be prepared to keep up with training on his basic commands to provide him with adequate mental stimulation. He is crate trained and will happily retreat to it when needed; he will be in his crate when his foster family is away for the day – usually 4-6 hours per day, as well as sleeping in it throughout the night. Chao is housebroken; however, he can reach up to get something of interest on the counter or table so it is important to not leave hazardous foods or items out. If you’re looking for a smart, loving and playful dog to add to your family – look no further. Chao is a terrific dog who will fit right in to his new environment.
