Adopt CANELITA (Mexico, hs) a Tan/Yellow/Fawn - with White Coonhound / Labrador

Location:
Langley, BC
Description:

Hello kind hoomans! My name is CANELITA and here is some info about me:PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Coonhound/Lab Mix Age: approx. 3 years Gender: Female Weight: 24 lbs (11 kg) RESCUE STORY - I was found tied to a tree on a side street in the town of Chapala. After reported sightings of me being neglected, I was rescued by the authorities and put in foster care at a local shelter. When found, I was malnourished and very thin, but don't worry I'm now completely healthy!TEMPERAMENT - I am a sweet, loving dog who thrives off of affection and love. I get along well with kids and I'm playful with other doggies as long as I'm off-leash. I do have some leash reactivity towards other doggies, but once I'm off leash I'm as playful as they come. ENERGY LEVEL - Medium GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Yes, but no video proof yet. Dogs – Yes, as long as I am off-leash. **My owner will need to help me overcome my fear-based leash reactivity towards other doggies.** Cats – Unknown PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.FEARS - Dogs when I'm on leash. My response is fear-based leash reactivity, which is pretty understandable given my history of being tied up.TRAINING: Leash skills – Work in progress. House trained – Work in progress! Please be patient with me and help me continue to learn in my forever home. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn :) Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems! Basic training should be taken seriously and should begin within a few days after arrival. After your dog has settled in, check out courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. HEALTH NOTES: I have been spayed and vaccinated (NOTE: Mexico dogs are not microchipped). ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD + applicable taxes, which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. Dogs from Mexico typically arrive within 6-8 weeks of being approved for adoption. Mexico dogs fly into SEATTLE (not Vancouver). This necessitates a USA/Canada border transfer. We have been using a trusted Pet Transport company to escort the dogs from Seattle to South Surrey. This is an additional charge of $235/dog. All options will be discussed with you by the Mexico Rescue Coordinator. ------------------------------------- Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. More information can be found on our website. ##1302120##
