Adopt Buttercup a Black - with Tan, Yellow or Fawn Doberman Pinscher / Mixed dog
Buttercup came on Ugly Mutts International Project #5. She was originally found wandering the streets. Someone had cut off her ears. At the shelter she showed herself to be a bit shy at 1st but once she settled she was very affectionate with everyone. She can get a little jealous and bossy with other dogs but I guess that is to be expected that she wants all the loving for herself. She needs someone who will be her best friend, a family that will enjoy her outgoing fun nature and show her what being a part of a family is all about. Buttercup is approx a year and a half and currently weighs approx 60 pounds. Here is what her foster family had to say about Buttercup: Buttercup is a smart, affectionate girl. She would make a good family companions or would love to be 1 person's best friend, as she rarely leaves my side. She is in good health. She is high energy and loves to play. She is still a puppy in many ways and enjoys being part of our family. She is affectionate with people of all ages and just laps up any attention she can get. I would say older kids would be best, due to her size. We have not had her around any other pets, and we think she would do best as the only dog in the home. I would also say no cats as we just don't know. She did see 1 cat through the window but she was totally indifferent to it, so I don't think she actually has a high prey drive. Buttercup has not shown any shyness with anyone. She has been friendly and loving to everyone she has met. Buttercup sometimes whines and barks when you leave the house...but only for a minute. As she is having her 1st experiences living in a city environment, she can be startled by loud noises or loud cars and trucks passing us on our walks. She definitely needs to get out on walks each day and can be high energy inside the home if she hasn't had enough exercise but otherwise she is calm and quiet in the home and just likes to lie around and be wherever her people are. Buttercup's favourite things to do are to cuddle, go for walks, play fetch, and play with her toys. She has counter surfed a couple times but seems to know she shouldn't. She did mistake my daughters slipper for a toy and had it in her cage but never chewed it...In her defence it is fluffy! Buttercup knows sit and no, very well...we are working on stay, paw and lay down. She is a quick learner. She is fully potty trained. She is crate trained. Buttercup walks well on a gentle leader but isn't trained to not pull when on a flat collar. Overall Buttercup is much like any young dog. She will need further training and socialization and obedience classes would be nice for her as she is such a quick learner and is very eager to please her people. I do think she needs a secure yard as I believe she would run off if given the chance. Again, she will need further training in this. She does enjoy going out for car rides. She really likes to be wherever you are. Buttercup is a gentle loving loyal girl who is looking for someone who can give her a lot of time and attention. With a little training she will be a very well mannered dog as she is already quite well mannered. I think Buttercup would be best in a active family with older kids where she is not left alone for long periods of time and she is the only pet. She would also suit a very active full grown. If you think Buttercup might be a good choice for your situation, please visit our official web siteat http://www.uglymuttsdogrescue.com and submit an adoption form.
