Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant

Human Resources is dedicated to the creation of a positive work environment for our employees and the development of long term Human Resources strategies to support our partners in business.

Reporting to the Business Partner of Health Management, the Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant (VRC) will be responsible to implement and manage a priority placement process to assist employees with disabilities who require permanent accommodation. Primary duties include:
• assess the employee's accommodation needs through file review and direct interviews;
• provide direct consultation and/or referral services as necessary regarding identified needs of the employee such as functional and medical interventions;
• develop reasonable and appropriate rehabilitation and accommodation strategies;
• prepare written reports detailing findings, recommendations, and progress updates;
• track all key metrics related to rehabilitation and priority placement activities.

The successful applicant will possess an undergraduate degree (equivalent to 3-4 years full-time study) in a field related to vocational rehabilitation counselling, supplemented by a related
vocational rehabilitation designation (CARP, CCRC, CVE, RRP, or RVP). A minimum of two years of related work experience in the areas of disability management, and return to work principles and processes is also required. The successful applicant must have strong case management skills and knowledge of the legal obligations under the duty to accommodate (Human Rights legislation). Core competencies include: refined analytical thinking and excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently or as part as a team.

$32.24 - 35.46 - 37.24 - 39.10 - 41.05 - 43.10 per hour (October 26, 2009 rates)
Hours of Work: This position works a standard 35 hour work week.
